ANNUAL FUND RAISING
As is the case with many churches voluntary contributions from the congregation cannot cover annual expenditure. Fund raising is therefore inevitable.

The second Saturday in February is earmarked in Barbados' Social Calendar for the St. James Church Harvest Garden Party. Many visitors to our Island plan their holiday to include this event. It is the time when we give thanks to Almighty God for his many blessings on us all, and invite the 1200-1500 who usually attend, to share with us in raising funds to maintain the fabric of our Church buildings, and to finance our outreach programmes.

Our garden party evolved from a variety of fund raising efforts during the 70's and 80's when our historic church was in urgent need of restoration. It has grown considerably since the first event in 1989. Local artists and craft persons are invited to display their work or to give demonstrations. Many of these are of a high standard and so enjoy rewarding sales.

Entertainment is provided by local groups, with the Royal Barbados Police Band being a great favourite. The church reflects the glory of creation with floral arrangements by a team of talented flower arrangers. There are home made Bajan delicacies, preserves and cakes to tempt the appetite and for the foot weary a refreshing Tea Stall or local and bottled drinks, books and household items, vegetables and plants, entertainment for children and Tombola for the adults.

All of this takes place in our well-kept grounds. The door prizes are attractive and parking is carefully arranged. We take this opportunity to invite you to join us. You won't be disappointed!
